There is virtually no transportation from the airport other than taxi cabs which cost approximately $95 each way. There is a bus system called JAC (Jump Around Carson). We are a very small town. Most people rent cars as they want to go to many of the surrounding areas.
What can I do nearby?
There are tours of the capitol building, legislature, Governor's Mansion and historical homes where many famous people (such as writer Mark Twain) once lived. The Nevada State Museum and Train Museum are located here as well. There is skiing in the winter at Lake Tahoe, hiking, fishing, biking, white water rafting, boating, hang gliding, soaring and many other adventures in and around the area. We also have casinos. The Hampton Inn & Suites has a "Cowboy 101" package where you can learn to ride a horse or ATV. You can take the V&T RR train from nearby Virginia City to Carson City to see the beautiful scenery and relive the past in the "Wild West".
